After being married for 31 years, I want to be clear that there are no perfect marriages, but God will use this relationship that you have with Johnny as part of your sanctification process. As you navigate each day of marriage, my prayer for each of you is that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct your relationship and you will experience the fruit of the spirit individually and together as a couple. Galatians 5:24 says: When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, it will produce this kind of fruit in us: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self Control. I was crying becuase I realized that very soon I would be leaving my family and home to start a new life with my husband. Althogh this is something to rejoice in, my heart was feeling so homesick in that moment. I was reminded by the Lord that my home is with God and that I am secure in Christ.  No matter where we go in life or who we are with - we need to KNOW and BELIEVE that we are SECURE IN CHRIST. Something I have noticed within todays society is the struggle to truly rest - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s so easy to go with the flow of culture and to be busy, busy, busy ALL the time. After seeing my counselor this past week, I realized how necessary it is to take time to STOP doing school, work, and all the to-do lists. Even to take a step away from my phone, texts, and emails. So, I have been trying to CHOOSE to slow down and rest in the Lord - to take a day off to seek Him, to read, to paint, to be in nature and to make sure I recognize that I am just a finite human being who needs the Lord! Christmas Day was so special... the man of my prayers and dreams got down on one knee. I thank God for bringing such a godly man into my life. Johnny is kind, gentle, gracious, loving, compassionate, humble, funny, and so handsome. For years I have been praying specifically for a man after God's own heart - and Johnny is the most godly man I know. And what a BEAUTIFUL promise it is that when we do draw near to God, He will draw near to us! So today, I want you to be encouraged, friend. I want you to know that you are not alone in your struggle to pray, read scripture, go to church, and to simply seek God. You are not alone because every human struggles in this. But take hope in this, Christ has made a way for us to have union with God again. Therefore, let us come before Jesus and say “Here I am.” Let us simply come before Him, and let Him draw us into the everlasting and unconditional love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
